Self catering accommodation sleeping 4/5 people,
near Bainbridge and Askrigg in the Yorkshire Dales

Coleby Hall is a 17th century gabled farmhouse with stone mullioned windows and some original features, including oak beams. The Hall lies in the heart of Wensleydale, looking south towards Bainbridge about half a mile distant, and a mile or so from Askrigg.

Coleby Hall is now divided into two, with the west (on the left of the photo, above) available for self catering holiday accommodation. Visitors enter through the main doorway, an original oak door, into a large hall, with period furniture befitting the house. Off the hall is a spacious lounge with a real coal fire, a colour television and comfortable seating.

The entire house has oil fired central heating, but coal is provided so that you can use the fire as well. The kitchen is a large room, with coal fire if required, and features a Victorian stone sink. There is an electric cooker, microwave, fridge, deep freeze, washing machine and all the usual kitchen equipment i.e. crockery, pans, kettle, iron etc. A small porch leads out to the side garden and coal house and is just the right place for leaving walking boots.

A stone spiral staircase leads from the hall up to two large bedrooms, one with a double bed (above) where you have a good view of cows coming in for morning milking (in summer) or going out in the evening. The other bedroom faces south with lots of sun and has three single beds. Duvets and linen are provided for the beds. The bathroom upstairs has a washbasin, toilet and bath with an electric power shower over it. Towels are not provided. A cot and high chair is available.

A large garden and lawn in front of the house looks down a tree-lined drive which, apart from the day to day working of the farm, is peaceful and quiet. There is a more private garden from the side door with an uninterrupted view across fields and the Pennines - a lovely quiet spot to enjoy the evening sun.

photophotoWensleydale is an ideal location as a base for walking and fishing, and it is central for driving around the Yorkshire Dales and its many attractions.
